The video below is from a man named Eddie Zarick and besides having a great Bond villain name he likes to build things. More specifically, he thought of such an amazing and interesting way to propose to his girlfriend that you really should do your best (if you are a man) to not let yours watch this because anything you attempt to do after this will pale in comparison.
Who wouldn’t say yes? Hell, I would.
Thanks to The Mary Sue
Artist Mark Dos Santos has done the world (and my family) a great service. He has combined my love of Batman with my mother’s love of Norman Rockwell’s Saturday Evening Post paintings. Thank you Mr. Dos Santos, you have brought another family together by joining the love of 1950’s Americana (when smoking was healthy) and my bloodthirst for vigilante justice.

Excuse me for a moment………gotta wait for this to go away……
Look, Zack Snyder gets a lot of shit and a lot of it is not deserved. I love how everyone absolutely loves 300 but says that Snyder is a shitty director. Let’s face it, he has only tripped up once in his directorial career. The Dawn of the Dead remake was good, 300 was great and Watchmen proved that the “unfilmable” graphic novel could be made into a great movie. So I can forgive him for Sucker Punch (which I never thought was as bad as people said). But I digress.
Man of Steel trailer. Now haters are always going to try to nitpick every single thing but I’ll be damned if this trailer isn’t beautiful and get a whole lot accomplished in two and a half minutes.
First off, Henry Cavill (in costume) is fu**ing Superman. I have always liked the new costume because of the New 52 look to it. At the halfway point in the trailer when he leaves the fortress and flies up (who did this music BTW, amazing) into the sky it was over. This movie should be on every nerd’s must watch list.
Second, we only get a quick glimpse of Michael Shannon’s Zod but he certainly has the right look and it appears that Supes will be fighting an interstellar force by the end of the preview. I am seeing a whole lot of Mark Waid’s Birthright story here and that is a great thing.
The entire first part of the preview is Ma and Pa (mostly Ma) giving Clark advice. We don’t see a whole lot of Amy Adam’s Lois but there is plenty of time left before the June release date to show her off more. This trailer needed to hit all the right notes especially being shown in front of The Hobbit this weekend because a very large audience is going to be watching.
Bring your doubts, your Zack Snyder hate. I will be waiting on June 14 when this movie turns out to be the Superman movie this generation has been waiting on.
Dane DeHaan is going from playing a crazy poor kid to a crazy rich kid. For those of you that have yet to watch him in Chronicle then you should really do yourself a favor and see it. He easily stole that movie and his performance should give you a glimpse of how great he should be as Harry Osborn.
So far the casting for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been good but there is still that lingering rumor of Jamie Foxx playing Electro out there.
So it appears Jamie Foxx has confirmed that he will in fact be playing Electro. Here is a direct quote from the Oscar winner (I still roll my eyes when I type that)
”a genius electrician-type person and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world… The next thing you know, he turns it on.”
Electrician-type person….dude. I am so looking forward to Django Unchained but you have got some work to do on getting people to believe in Electro.
Well this is….interesting.
The new Man of Steel poster went online yesterday and it certainly adds more questions to the movie and that’s a good thing. I am glad that I don’t know a lot about this movie yet. Leave it to Christopher Nolan to be the only guy in Hollywood that can still keep some things secret (at least longer than most can). Now let’s just hope that Zack Snyder can actually have Superman you know….fight stuff.
You have to admit that Henry Cavill sure does look the part. Where Brandon Routh looked like a modern Christopher Reeve playing Superman, Cavill seems to give the character a different edge. So far, I like.
One of my favorite new shows of this fall is Arrow. I was among the group that was very pessimistic when the series was announced but I’ll be damned if I didn’t watch the pilot and think it was completely awesome. Now the show is not perfect (Starling City? Really?) but it is a great (new) spin on the Oliver Queen character. Consider it like Smallville, just with better acting and storytelling.
Now comes the news that they have gotten Manu Bennett to play Slade Wilson on the show. Yeah, fu**ing Slade Wilson. Played by Crixus from Spartacus.
Now Deathstroke has already been shown on the show in Oliver’s flashbacks but he has remained under mask played by another actor but now I am guessing that we will get a full-on Deathstroke story. I keep waiting for Arrow to have a drop off a bit but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. Let’s hope it lasts.
Damn Bryan Singer. It’s like you are trying to make up for leaving us to Brett Ratner’s wrath in X-Men 3.
I really should have written about this yesterday but had to write an article about it on NerdRating.com and couldn’t find the time to get it done. But here we go!
Bryan Singer, I love you even more today than I thought possible and that’s with full forgiveness for Superman Returns. Not only are Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan returning to the X franchise but now it seems like Hugh Jackman is getting set to join the party too. “The Jackers” (that’s what I call him cause we’re so close) just hung up his claws on The Wolverine but now seems to want to suit back up and get in all the Days of Future’s Past fun.
This movie is getting a bit on the large side and I mean that in the best way possible. Days of Future’s Past is one of the greatest X-Men stories ever told and it looks like it will be getting the treatment it deserves.
Don’t cock it up.
Just when I think we are going to have a normal day without any kind of weird Episode VII or Justice League rumors….WHAM!!!
HitFix.com has started a rumor firestorm today by saying that there is word floating around that DC is looking to jumpstart their Justice League movie as early as this summer with Man of Steel and that may include a cameo from Batman himself. Not only that but the Caped Crusader would be played by none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Yeah, let’s rewind a tick.
Zack Snyder has been pretty adamant during the filming of Man of Steel that his movie would stand alone and that he had no involvement with DC’s plans for a Justice League movie but in a New York Post interview recently the director has become more coy about the possibility that his Superman is the one we will see in a big screen Justice League adventure.
“Um, how can I answer that? I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”
In Hollywood speak Snyder basically just said “Yeah, we’re trying to figure it out as we speak.”
So now we come to today and HitFix’s sources saying that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing Batman in the JL movie and not just that but they may be trying to fit him into a cameo in Man of Steel like Marvel did with Nick Fury in Iron Man. Maybe you would think that this would excite me being a huge JGL fan and all but exactly the opposite actually.
Let Nolan’s Bat trilogy stand alone. Even the director himself has said that the trilogy was “his” Batman. How the character was more than just a man, it was a symbol. The Justice League movie is something completely different. You need Bruce Wayne as Batman. To not have that in what may be the biggest gamble your company makes on a movie is folly. Imagine if you went to see The Avengers and instead of Tony Stark you had Sam Goodwin, random other guy who took over for Tony while he was off on a bender or something. Cool action bro but where’s the real Iron Man?
Look, DC can do this right. I have faith they can. There is no need to connect to Nolan’s Bat films. Batman is like Bond, actors apply at the desk. May the best man win.
A Digital Spy interview with Tom Hiddelston has opened up a small hope for the new post-Lucas Star Wars universe. The actor said he would consider being in the new Star Wars flicks depending on the script and if he was asked of course.
“I’m a huge fan, especially of the first three. Absolutely, yeah. It would depend on the story and the character and things. But I don’t know, maybe people would associate me too closely with Loki—I hope not.”
I believe the only proper response to this is as follows:
HELL AND YES!!!
Now the chance of this actually happening is like 2.36754% but that should be enough for us to hold onto hope that Loki will wield a lightsaber.
Welcome home Bryan.
Sorry I missed this with Disney buying the world over the past few days but what do you expect?
Bryan Singer has officially signed on to take Matthew Vaughn’s place in the director’s chair for the First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future’s Past. Honestly it was a bummer when Vaughn mysteriously dropped out but Fox did the right thing in bringing back the guy who made the X-Men work on the big screen in the first place. Hopefully he will channel his inner X2 and not his inner Superman Returns.
Next time don’t announce something like this on the same day that the biggest deal in geek history happens.
